About
Sanjivan is an Organ Donation Website run by Srini Raja.
In early 2005, one of Srini’s friend was looking for an organ transplant. With no knowledge about organ transplant and how it worked, Srini was shocked to learn that it was very difficult to get organs due to lack of awareness and information. He also found that people were scared when they heard the words - “organ donation”. Fortunately, Srini’s friend managed to get the organ transplant on time.
It was actually during December 2005, Sanjivan.com was born. Srini got a dream at night, in which he was asked to create a website to spread awareness on organ donation. Sanjivan.com was launched within a few weeks on 17 December 2005.
Sanjivan.com was initially a registry, where people who were looking for organs could register. After a couple of website design iterations, Srini decided it would be best served, if the website was more like a blog, where he can write about organ donation and related subjects. The recent iteration of the website was launched in May 2008.
In 2007, Srini came across a few Asian families, who were looking for bone marrow donors. Srini realized that it was another important issue that he should raise awareness about.
Srini lives in the Bay Area and works as an architect in a start-up.
